Builders in South London

Extensions, loft conversions, refurbishments and larger renovation projects across South London, run by a team based in SE9. One point of contact from the first visit to handover.

What we build in South London

South London is mostly Victorian and Edwardian terraces, with 1930s semis further out and plenty of converted flats. So most of our work here is opening up the back of the house, going up into the loft, or taking a tired property back to brick and starting again.

  • Rear and side return extensions
  • Dormer and hip-to-gable loft conversions
  • Full house refurbishments and renovations
  • Kitchen and bathroom renovations
  • Structural alterations and knock-throughs
  • Larger projects and new builds, fully managed

Building work in South London: what to expect

Each borough runs its own planning and building control, and they don't all treat the same project the same way. Lambeth, Southwark, Lewisham, Wandsworth, Greenwich and Merton all have conservation areas, and inside them most dormer lofts and side extensions need full planning permission rather than going through permitted development.

On terraces and semis, nearly every extension or loft touches a shared wall, so the Party Wall Act applies. We flag this at the start and work with your party wall surveyor, so neighbours aren't caught by surprise and the programme doesn't stall waiting for an agreement.

If you're not sure what you can do, start with a site visit. We'll look at the house, tell you honestly what's likely to need planning, and give you an itemised price you can compare.

Questions about building in South London

Do you cover all of South London?

Yes. We work across South East and South West London, from Greenwich, Lewisham and Southwark through to Lambeth, Wandsworth and Merton. Our office is in SE9, so we're rarely far away.

Do I need planning permission for a rear extension?

Often not. Many single-storey rear extensions on houses fall under permitted development, within size limits. Flats and maisonettes don't have those rights, and conservation areas and Article 4 directions take some of them away. We'll tell you which applies after the site visit.

Can you take on a whole-house project?

Yes. Our Wimbledon project combined a full refurbishment, a rear extension, a dormer loft conversion and a new garden in one 20-week programme, with one team running every trade.
