Extending a house in a conservation area

In a conservation area, the council looks closely at anything visible from the street, and permitted development rights are reduced. Rear extensions and lofts are still very achievable, but they usually need planning permission and a design that respects the house.

Our West Hampstead project is a two-storey rear extension in a conservation area, built with timber-framed glazing that sits well with the original house. We work with your architect from the start so the build matches what was approved.

It depends on your road. Blackheath is split between the Royal Borough of Greenwich and the London Borough of Lewisham, and Lee is mostly in Lewisham. We'll confirm at the site visit.

Geraldo and his team recently completed a full fit-out of our flat that we purchased in terrible condition. It included a complex relocation of the kitchen and boiler to create an additional bedroom and create an open plan kitchen, diner and lounge. From start to finish, Geraldo was a true professional. His attention to detail is second to none—not just in the construction, but in the administration as well. Without even being asked, he provided a complete handover pack including Building Regs, Gas Safe, and Electrical certificates, along with all appliance warranties. We used our local council for Buildings Regulations and he deftly managed all their requirements, easing the worry for us tremendously.

He was incredibly helpful during the pre-construction phase, providing all the necessary documentation to satisfy our freeholder’s requirements. Throughout the build, he suggested several clever ways to save on costs while actually improving the design and functionality of the space. He is a 'communication is key' professional who always answers his phone and solves problems with total patience and clarity. Even after the project was finished, he went out of his way to help with a minor follow-up issue. I wouldn’t dream of using anyone else for future work.
