Getting the most from a loft
On a terrace, an L-shaped or rear dormer gives the most space. On a 1930s semi with a hipped roof, a hip-to-gable conversion plus a rear dormer is the usual route. Both can often be permitted development outside conservation areas, and both need building regulations approval.
